On a refurbishment, carpentry is rarely one visit. We're in early to form the structure, out while the plumber, electrician and plasterer do their work, then back at the end to hang doors and fit skirting. That in-and-out rhythm is why carpentry so often decides whether a renovation runs to time or drifts by a month.
We take on whole-house refurbishments and single-room projects, working either directly for you or alongside a builder who's running the job. Either way we commit to dates and tell you the same day if something changes, because three other trades are usually waiting on us.
What renovation carpentry covers
- First fix. Studwork and partitions, door linings, floor joists and noggins, and the framing services need to run through.
- Structural timber. Floor structures, roof timbers, and forming or closing openings where a room changes shape.
- Attic conversions. Floor structure, dormer framing, partitions, linings and stairs access.
- Garage conversions. Insulated floor build-up, stud walls, window and door openings.
- Stairs. New staircases, re-treading, balustrades and handrails, often the single change that lifts a whole hallway.
- Second fix. Doors, skirting, architrave, ironmongery and trims once the walls are painted.

Older houses hold surprises
Open up a north Dublin house from the fifties or earlier and you find things no survey showed: joists notched half through for a pipe, a partition that turned out to be carrying load, floor levels that differ by 40mm between rooms, or a previous extension framed with whatever was in the yard that week.
How we handle it. We flag it the day we find it, with what it means for cost and time, and we don't proceed on a change until you've said yes. A surprise is not an excuse for an open-ended bill. It's a decision you get to make.
Living in the house while we work
Most of our renovation work happens in occupied houses. That shapes how we run a job: dust barriers on the rooms we're in, cuts made outside or with extraction, tools and materials off the stairs at the end of each day, and honest warning about which days will be loud so you can plan calls and school runs.
We also stage the work so you keep a functioning house wherever possible: one bathroom usable, the kitchen accessible, the stairs safe.

- Walk the job. We look at what's coming out, what's staying and how the carpentry ties into the other trades.
- Quote and sequence. An itemised written price plus a realistic order of works, so you can see where we fit in the programme.
- First fix. Structure and framing, coordinated so the plumber and electrician aren't left waiting.
- Second fix. Back after the decorating for doors, skirting, architrave and stairs.
- Snagging. We walk it with you, fix the small things properly, and clear the site.
